Welcome back to another Cozy Tarot Reading! Sorry for my absence this past week. My mom was ill and I was working later than usual at my muggle job. I also had two previous commitments last Sunday, I joined a free workshop held by Chelsey Pippin Mizzi, who is the author of The Tarot Spreads Yearbook, for a tarot spread/journaling session. It was a great time. I think I might write a post about it.
Then I was invited by my friend Alana from Three Degrees of Love Divination as a guest for her annual Bell Let’s Talk Day mental health video, which will be premiering on January 24th at 8 PM EST.
You can come join us in the live chat at the above link. Feel free to sign up to be notified of when the video premiere starts!
I had a great time talking mental health and tarot, with Alana and the other guest, Amy, who is a poet/author.
Let me know how your week has been! I’d love to hear from you!
Cozy tarot Sunday is a week a head reading that I post every Sunday! The reading encompasses a focus for the week, a way to embrace the focus, a challenge to overcome, and a card for self-care for the week.
Let’s get into this weeks reading!
For the month of January, I’ll be using my Practical Magic Inner Witch Oracle & Tarot by Joseph Benitez-Egerton, who owns Grounded by the Moon.
As always for the self-care portion of the reading, I’ll be sharing the self-care activities from the book Tarot for Self-Care by Minerva Siegel and published by Adams Media.

1- Focus for the week. Witches Hanging Rope - protection
The focus for this week is on protection. What makes you feel safe? Comforted? surround yourself with that this week. You may be feeling worried more than usual, but there’s no need. You are safe, you are protected, you are loved. Just keep reminding yourself of that when worry enters your mind.
2- How to embrace the focus? 10 of air (swords)
What an interesting card to get as a way to embrace the focus, no? It’s kind of laughable! The 10 of swords is usually about betrayal, a tough ending, being stabbed in the back, it’s just not a great time. But I see it as a time to let go of the past and start to heal your wounds. Perhaps something has happened for you that has been on your mind, it’s worrying you. You want to embrace the protection card by letting go of what happened and heal yourself, move forward. Not everything can go our way in life, but making sure you are safe and protected is your number one. Comfort yourself and start anew.
3- A challenge of the week. 2 of earth (pentacles)
The 2 of pentacles is all about balance, now how can this be a challenge? Well, where are you lacking balance? How can you restore your own equilibrium to feel more grounded? When something happens and we feel unsafe or worry, we feel on edge, which results in not feeling grounded or balanced. We get stuck in this hole that we don’t know who to get out of. If you find a balance between the two sides, it makes it easier to get out of the hole because there’s a balance you can rely on. Just find your footing in both worlds.
4- Self-care of the week. Initiate of air (page of swords)
The self-care activities are in terms of mind, body, and spirit. Of course, if these self-care activities don’t resonate with you, just make sure you’re doing some kind of self-care for yourself as self-care is very important!
Mind: Try out a few environmentally friendly cleaning products, or make your own! The fresh scents and natural utility will surely calm your mind.2 Making your own may be cheaper than buying, but if you don’t have the time and can afford to buy, then do that! If you want to make your own and want to get witchy with it, look up the witchy properties of the ingredients. You can assign some for cleansing, protection, banishment, etc. Also, you can draw sigils on the bottles of the cleaning products, made or bought.
Body: Freshen up your look with an edgy new hairstyle.3 A haircut or hairstyle can do wonders for self-confidence and self-love, which are two things that are great for self-care.
Spirit: Send a surprise care package to a long-distance friend. Fill it with skincare items, loose leaf tea, and a good book.4 Make sure you check for allergies and skin type if you plan to do this. Not all skin products are for everyone. Also, ingredients can give allergic reactions in both the skincare and tea. You can always change it up if you’re not familiar with these types of products and include items you already know your friend loves and uses.
Until next week, have a good one!
