Winter's wisdom
I’m so excited for this post today because it’s a collab with Joseph from groundedbythemoon.
Joseph was nice enough to send me his newest workbook that he created called Winters Whispers to share some spreads and give his work some awareness! This is a workbook that’s available to his Patreon members, which costs $5 USD a month. There’s 23 spreads plus information on cards associated with winter as well as winter archetypes. This is the perfect workbook for this season!
Or you can buy the workbook without joining his Patreon for $10 USD. He even has a Horror Movie spread book available for purchase as well! More workbooks to come, so definitely follow him on Instagram (link above) or join his Patreon, since workbooks are free for active Patreon’s.
So, I’m going to be doing the Winter’s Wisdom spread from the Winters Whispers workbook. I thought it was perfect because we’re just entering the new year!
I’ll, of course, be using the Practical Magic Inner Witch Tarot by Joseph to use with the spread he created!
1- What lessons or challenges have I faced during the past year that have brought me to this point? Apprentice of earth (knight of pentacles)
I felt for the majority of the year I was stuck in my routine and path. Boredom is something that hits me often when I don’t like something or I’m unhappy with something. So, I felt like I feet out of love with my practice from like May until September. I was in a major slump because of it. But I did overcome that challenge by getting back into things in a slow and steady manner, and not overwhelming myself with so much stuff at once.
2- What can I do to honor all of my achievements, journey, and the progress I have made thus far? The world
Celebrate. The world is all about coming to an end of a journey or chapter. The achievements and progress so far should be celebrated because when you come so far and put so much work into your goals, practice, or path that’s something to be proud of and shared with others. So, celebrate your journey and your accomplishments. Let people know what it is you have done that makes you proud of yourself. For myself, I have so many accomplishments and made a lot of progress in my goals that I’m proud of. I feel like I’ve come so far!
3- What areas of my life require introspection and deep self-reflection during this winter season? The hanged one (man)
The hanged man is associated with the element of water, which is linked to emotions. I feel like this is saying that introspection and deep reflection is needed in regards to feelings and processing the emotions. It gives me very shadow work vibes! Journaling one’s feelings and emotions can help to see them from a different perspective, which, in my opinion, is the point of being introspective.
4- How can I embrace growth and transformation in order to align with the energy of the Solstice? Initiate of earth (page of pentacles)
You gain growth and transformation with the page of pentacles when you apply what you learn to your hard work. I find that I learn as I go with things, and I adjust and grow into things based on the experience and knowledge I gain. I feel like the winter time and winter solstice goes at a more slow and steady pace like the pentacles suit, so growth and transformation will take a longer time, but it is well worth it when it does take place.
5- What blessings, opportunities, or new beginnings await me as I move into the new year? Sovereign of water (king of cups)
With the king of cups, I feel like this year is the year of creativity. Creative endeavours, building a stronger connection with being creative, and pouring your emotions into your creative passions. Just being creative and linking that to your emotions is a blessing, but it also opens doors to so many possibilities and ideas.
6- What insights or guidance can I receive to help me navigate the path ahead during this winter season? Sovereign of air (king of swords)
The guidance that the king of swords would give is that you should navigate your path ahead with a clear mind. Make sure you truly think about things before you do them or have all the facts before making decisions/going forward with something. This can help when determining where exactly you’re headed. The king of swords is a very rational thinker. He doesn’t like doing things if he hasn’t put thought into them. So, the advice is that you should do the same.
Though, let’s face it, we’re not always going to do this, haha. But it’s a nice sentiment.
What an interesting reading. There’s definitely a lot of groundedness, and slow and steady wins the race type of energy with the page and knight of pentacles, and the world cards, which I feel like matches the winter season. But there’s also those watery vibes with the king of cups and the hanged man cards, which are more emotional and connection building. Then that one logical swords card that kind of throws the balance off, but I guess sometimes you need the rational in an emotional world, am I right?
